Arkansas has so much to see and do. Outdoor adventures with the natural beauty is Arkansas. The state has waterfalls, caverns, wild caving, forests, mountain trails and scenic drives. You can even dig for diamonds and quartz crystals. A wide range for golfers, and outdoor enthusiasts.

These cities are all suburbs adjoining Phoenix: Cave Creek, Chandler, Mesa, Peoria, Scottsdale, Tempe
Fountain Hills is slightly separated from Phoenix, but only a 20 min drive to the East.
Gold Canyon is , a tiny town 25 minutes southeast of Phoenix. A little more remote than Fountain Hills, but both seem to be gaining popularity as retirement areas There’s nothing to do there except relax and read a book or golf.
Tucson is Arizona’s 2nd largest city, 2 hrs south of Phoenix. Oro Valley is a Tucson suburb:
These 2 towns are on the AZ side of the Colorado River but not near each other (or near much of anything). Bullhead City is across the river from Laughlin, NV, which has become quite a gambling mecca. Neither is necessarily a tourist destination except for those living in CA or AZ who want to play on the river or gamble.
Bullhead City, Lake Havasu City
Sedona and Flagstaff are 2-3 hrs north of Phoenix. It’s about a 30 minute drive from Sedona further north to Flagstaff (Arizona’s 3rd largest metropolitan area). Flagstaff is the closest timeshare to the Grand Canyon and the closest ski area to Phoenix, but Sedona is a more popular vacation destination.
These small towns are in the mountains to the east of Phoenix.
Payson is about a 2 hr drive from Phoenix and is mostly a retirement town. Kohl’s ranch is about 13 mi. east of Payson.
Overgarrd is an hour further east, and there’s nothing there but the Worldmark resort and a few retirement/2nd-home cabins.
Pinetop is an hour east of Overgarrd and is the largest town in the mountains. Nothing to jump up and down about; it’s just a place to escape the desert heat in the summer or go camping/fishing.
