Cable Beach is famous for its sand and crystal waters and for this upscale resort. In 1907 this beach became the starting point for the Trans-Atlantic cable, which went from cable beach to connect The Bahamas to mainland America at Jupiter, Florida. Now it is filled with fun and sun. Enjoy the water sports and activities and sunbathing. Snorkeling, Scuba diving, skiing, fishing and more await you on the beach.

Is the resort undergoing construction at this time?

They are in the process of doing major updating to all 35 villas. Each unit is receiving upgrades such as new flooring, major appliances, 42” plasma tv’s for the living room, etc. Currently they have 18/35 villas completed and in service.

Are there children’s’ activities? If so, what are they?

Consistent with most RCI gold crown resorts, they have a myriad of activities that are underway and also new ones that are being implemented for children and adults alike. There are 4-5 daily activities such as bingo, aquacize (water exercise hour), limbo etc. Additionally, the activities director is implementing Thursday evenings by the pool and pool bar/restaurant which will be filled with music/activities and sounds like it should be extremely successful. Even on nights without the activities, the guests gather around the pool to socialize until the late evening hours, which is really something great to see.

How far is the resort from the airport ? Is there transportation of any kind to the resort from the airport?

This resort is about a 10 minute cab ride from the airport which is really great because they are on the near side of town, so traffic is really never a concern. From the airport, guests have the option to choose to take a taxi or limo to the resort.

Is the resort directly on the beach?

They have their own private beach which is adjacent to the pool, directly on property and no more than a few footsteps from your villa. In speaking with guests, they mentioned that having our their beach and its proximity was a major factor in spending their vacation there.

Are there other resorts directly next to this or is this in a somewhat private area?

With relation to the proximity to other resorts, they really have a great location. They are not immediately cramped in next door to other insanely populated resorts such as Breezes, Sandals, Crystal Palace, etc. They are however a quick 5 minute walk to these resorts. Thus, you can relax and enjoy the privacy of this property or in minutes you can be right in the action of the casino if you so desire. Some people walk to the casino on the road, others choose to walk along the beach.

What about the restaurants there?

They have an onsite pool-bar/restaurant (Da Sand Bar) operated by a new mother-daughter team which are great and are even receiving lauds on reviews. Everyone at the resort calls the mother “Mama” which is truly demonstrative of the family-feel of this resort. Guests even sign articles of clothing (hats, shirts, pictures) and leave them at the bar. The menu has consistent items with Bahamian specialties which include conch, lobster etc. but also American favorites such as chicken tenders, hotdogs/hamburgers, and Philly cheese steaks for the kids. Da Sand Bar is open daily from 9am-the late hours until business is over (usually around midnight).

"I had a guest complain to me the other day that they loved Da Sand Bar so much that they almost hated it because they stopped going to their favorite restaurants on the island! Obviously, each unit has a fully equipped kitchen where guests can cook their own dinners should they choose to do so."
