A few years ago, my daughter did a destination wedding in Puerta Vallarta. The fancy hotel we were booked at messed up on our reservations and I (the mother of the bride, no less) was bumped to the Costa Vida.
I turned out to be the envy of the rest of the guests. The rooms were much more spacious than the hotel and had a full kitchen and wonderful balcony and view of the ocean. It wasn't crowded and loud like some of the other resorts. The staff was friendly and helpful.
I can't wait to return!

I have been going to Puerto Vallarta off /on since 1972 after a University trip. Even though it has grown, I still love it. I bought a time share 6 years ago at the well established Costa Vida. Most of the employees have been there for 7 to 25 years, which speaks very well for the Resort. It is south of town, on it's own beach without the hussle of the Main beach or Nuero Vallarta. It is very safe for families with 2 pools and all resort ammenities. It is not your typical huge, loud resort but a place to relax and meet new friends. We take the local green bus for 4 pesos to have fun in "Old Vallarta" or a cheap taxi is always there to any new adventure. We cook in the kitchenette buying supplies at the Resort store. The resturaunt is great too.
