This is the best place to stay to see DC and Northern Virginia. Steps from the Metro, safe and great accomodations. It's only a 10 minute ride to the Mall and Capital area plus within walking distance of Old Town, Alexandria. Free parking too!

We took our three children (high school and college) to Washington three weeks before 9/11. We stayed 4 nites in one of the 2 Bedroom Deluxe units at Old Alexandria and of all the Fairfield Resorts we have visited (27 different ones in all) these were the nicest and plushest interiors. Other F/F Resorts have more on-site amenities, a la, nice pools lazy rivers, etc. but none have such nicest furnishings. Not many have the area attractions either. We took one of the last full White House tours, did the Smithsonian, Congress, Memorials, etc that DC has to offer. Mt Vernon was not far and is a must see. Old Town Alexandria was right up my wife's alley with all of the old America charm and history. If you go to DC this is where to stay.
