In 1953, a 72-mile stretch of the Outer Banks from Nags Head to Ocracoke Island was set aside as the nation's first National Seashore. If you want action Kill Devil Hills is one of the most popular vacation destinations on the Outer Banks. Great restaurants, sports and activities, and shopping. History abounds also, the first successful sustained powered flights in a heavier-than-air machine were made here by Wilbur and Orville Wright on December 17, 1903. The oldest and longest-running of America's outdoor dramas, The Lost Colony, is a worthwhile show. Our family and friends have truly enjoyed visiting here for several years now.
