Our family loves this place, we own 4 weeks here, and use it every year. The apartments are clean and comfortable, many with new kitchens. The resort owns an access path to the beach, no crowds, which is nice. Great for children. Most motorists are considerate of beach goers, never a problem crossing A1A. As for groceries, there is a Publix, a pharmacy, and a liquor store within walking distance, as well as a coastal seafood restaurant just down the street. A great place for families to relax, but if you are planning to go in March, better book early, The Surf Rider building is usually full. There is also a building at the back of the property, on the inter coastal, called the Surf Sider, don't confuse the two.

I have vacationed at the Surf Rider resort for the past 20 years and have found the atmosphere to be friendly and home-like. In addition to the huge pool, there are tennis and shuffleboard courts on site with equipment available free of charge. Each unit has its own laundry equipment, some have balconies and ground-floor units have patios. An extra-large gas barbecue is available for guests and it is well used everyday. The management arranges numerous activities such as boat or bus tours to points of interest such as the inland waterway, Miami, the Everglades and the Florida Keys - something for everyone. A welcoming pool-side breakfast every Monday sets the stage for a memorable vacation.

Motel-like resort offers large units with full kitchen. Other that pool - there are no activities and to get around or just to eat you NEED a car, there are no restaurants on site. BRING YOUR OWN TOWELS! There are no towels exchange on a pool, and only room towels exchange on Wednesday. No room service either. I went with kids on a spring break and motel was half empty. I love to have so much privacy and not worry about having a place by the pool. :o) Beach across the route 1A1 had no umbrellas or any rentals, you will have to rent this stuff from motel and carry it back and forth. Not an equal exchange to my home resort in Cancun, where I had 4 restaurants, 3 pools, gym, beach, pool towels, room service, exc.

Very friendly staff. Major updates in the past few years, and continual improvements make this an A1 facility. Units are very large, and have a feeling of home. Great beach access across A1A, and just mintues from Lauderdale-By-The-Sea and Ft. Lauderdale. Many excellent Italian restaurants in the immediate area, and all amenities are nearby. Elevators available to upstairs units.
