We just returned from our 10th vacation at Hilton Head and stayed at the Ocean Palms Resort this trip. We noticed lots of engines running during the day-making lots of noise. There is lots of noise pollution on Hilton Head Island in general coming from the landscaping crews. They are always trimming and blowing leaves. We noticed this time that the Crown Reef staff across from Ocean Palms would crank up high powered blowers and blow the leaves and pollen on the other side of the street to Ocean Palms. Our car was covered in pollen and the Crown Reef leaves were all over our sidewalks. Leaf blowing is a big deal in Hilton Head and it always makes lots of noise.

We own ten weeks at Ocean Palms and it is a great place to spend a week or month in the first part of the year. It's not as warm as Florida but the relaxed pace and beauty of Hilton Head makes it a great place to unwind, play a little golf (three courses here) or tennis. Once you spend time here you will fall in love with it and want to return every year! There are many excellent restuarants on the island and you can make easy day-trips to Savannah, GA, Beaufort or Charleston, SC. You will love the history and charm of these beautiful low-country cities. Read a Pat Conroy novel to get a flavor of this area and then come on down!

My husband and I stayed the last week of September in unit 503. The grounds are simply beautiful. Tennis courts and pools are around every corner. The condo itself was fantastic. If you're a non-smoker, bring candles and some Febreeze, but it's only a faint smell. The beach is not really "walking" distance, but a short bike ride is perfect. We had a great time and would rent again in a second! Watch for the gators around 5pm everyday, but don't feed them, or they'll be put down. The "live entertainment" is only seasonal, but there's fun places close by. I'd give the resort 5 out of 5 stars.
