America's Cup Inn is located in the heart of Newport, close to shops, attractions, and the harbor. Filled with 19th-century mansions open for public tours, Newport has a history that dates back to the 1700s, and there are more than 400 pre-Revolutionary War homes in the area. After you have experienced Newport's past, visit the crafts shops along the waterfront. The resort also offers continental breakfast and afternoon tea for a small fee (call for prices). Each unique room is individually styled with colonial era furnishings and wall coverings. Your comfortable room has been decorated with every attention to detail and represents the best of classic New England. For example, some rooms have four poster mahogany beds with canopies, co-coordinated draperies or antique wicker furnishings.
If you are looking for a great place to eat, you won't want to miss Scales and Shells located right on Thames Street. Upon entering the front door, the aromas will overwhelm your senses. The kitchen here is an open kitchen, and draws customers into visually participating in the preparation of their dinner. Guests walk immediately up to the line to see "what's cooking". Everyone asks questions, talks to the chefs, and many even make their dinner choices right then and there. This is a beautiful spot for a New England vacation.
