Nice place to stay, right on the beautiful beach. Sunsets are great. Coral Reef is behind the closed hotel. Don't know when developer can do something with closed hotel but the area around it has been improved since the last time I stayed here. Grass area now where Bongo's used to be. Friendly people. Heated pool used in the winter along with hot tubs. Looking forward to staying here again.

The condos have all been renovated in 2009 and are essentially brand new. The pools and beach are the best. The Bongo's bar has been closed so there is no longer people or noise coming from the beach bar. Other than the closed motel in front of the property, this is a great location, with great views and one of the best beaches in Florida. Actually a very nice resort compared to other beachfront resorts in the same price range. There are nicer resorts, but they cost a lot more money.

Coral Reef Beach Resort is a hidden jewel right on the beach. It is behind the closed hotel on Gulf Blvd. Drive around the south side of the closed hotel and you will see the beautiful 6 story and 4 story timeshare buildings. All of the units have new furniture, flooring, and bathrooms. The pools and grounds are clean. There are grocery stores nearby as well as several good restaurants. We just returned from a wonderful week there and we'll be staying there again. The sunsets are fabulous!

April 2008 - I have stayed at other places on St. Pete's beach and was disappointed when I arrived. It looks like a dive from the street and is not very well maintained, would not go back.

We stayed at the Coral Reef during the first two weeks of May 07. The staff are wonderful and will do their best to see that all your needs are addressed. We had stayed at this resort for several years in the 90's. The only downside during this visit is that the hotel portion has been closed for a few years and it is very run down with lots of garbage collecting around the property. The parking area in and around the former beach bar (Bongo's) has also become a hangout fo the locals. If you can get by that then you will have a very good stay. The units are still very nice with a great location on the beach. We will return and hopefully the property owners will start to clean up a little more.

P.S.

We had a 14 day stay at Coral Reef Resort in September. The whole time we were there we saw them clean the pool(s) only once. There was always dirt and debris in and around the pool. Many of the units are unoccupied because of renovation. We only saw one man working once the whole time we were there. At the beginning of our second week there was a "Red Tide" and we didn't get in the ocean. Dead fish all over the seashore. The maid was very nice and helpful at all times. Although there were some unpleasant situations, I will go back as often as possible because the resort is on the beach, and it is private and a very relaxing vacation. The personnel there are all very nice and helpful. Give it a try. You'll be glad that you did.

The 1st. year my 3 sons & wife stayed here was the 1st year of time shares. We used our unit every year until the boys started college. It's a great family unit & location, with over a mile of white sand walking beach, many shops & restaurants to walk to. The resort has cold & hot pools and hot tubs. There is an onsite restuarant. The units have a beautiful ocean/beach/pool views with fantastic sunsets to watch falling into the ocean. Units are highly decorated. They have a willable deed that does not expire. Our unit is a one bedroom unit, however, it also has a sofa sleeper (sleeps 4). It is nice being on the 3rd floor, away from the walking traffic of the 1st floor so it is quieter.

Great resort right on the beach! Largest free-form pool in Florida. Tastefully decorated. Deeded property. Restaurant on site. Within walking distance of other restaurants, shops, & grocery.
