We stayed in these condos for a ski trip in early December. The units were very clean. Yes, the decor is outdated, but the unit had everything we needed. The one thing that bothered us about the unit and facility were the staircases and outdoor walkways above the ground. The staircases inside the unit have vertical metal bars as rails, the problem is, the bars are plenty wide enough for a toddler to fit through. Since we have 3 year old twins, we were constantly trying to make sure they were not on the stairs without us. The top of the stairway on the second floor is open like that also and the children could easily fall to the first floor. Definately a safety hazard that the American Property Management group should take care of.

Within a 35-mile radius of Orofino is a skiers paradise-Breckenridge, Vail, Copper Mountain, Arapahoe Basin, and Keystone Mountain. In the summer, there are five world-class golf courses within 35 miles, including an 18-hole Robert Trent Jones course eight miles away. In the area, you will find horseback riding, Jeep touring, white-water rafting, and fishing. Lake Dillon presents more opportunities for boating and fishing. There are more than 100 miles of paved bicycle pathways open May to November. Orofino is a 70 unit property. Built in the 1970s, these 1200 square foot, 2 story condominiums are spacious, cozy and the time share units come fully equipped with a full kitchen, gas fireplace, DVD/VCR and washer and dryer. HUGE 2-bedroom!<

We stayed at Orofino by Straight Creek for 7 days in October 2008. Our unit was listed as upper level, but it was actually on 3rd floor because downstairs unit has 2 floors. For us "flatlanders" those 28 steps up and down to our unit (plus 14 more to get to our bedrooms) left us puffing. Stairway poorly lit-beware at night. Walkway to unit had scary holes in concrete and not sheltered. What happens when covered with snow or ice? Otherwise, unit was clean and well kept, though everything is very outdated dated and maintenance needed. Location OK, but nothing within walking distance. Still it was a bargain for us thanks to Armed Forces Vacation Club rates.

We stayed here during the summer months. It's just beautiful in Colorado! The location is perfect, and would stay again. If you're looking for frills, pass on this one. But if you want close to interstate, stores, and a large size resort then this one is great. (We have 6 in our family.) I'd read it was dated, so I was ready for it when I got there. Even so it took me awhile to adjust. The furniture is old, the beds are noisy, it's all from the 70's, pictures, paneling, comforters, curtains, etc. BUT, the stove, fridge, showers, washer/dryer were all updated so that was a plus. Many of the neighbors own their condo or rent it and they were friendly so it felt comfortable and safe. The outside was getting repainted when we left.

4-22-2006 Orofino is a nice condo. A bit dated but very clean and well stocked. Heat is somewaht hard to adjust and furniture is dated. But on the plus side it is close to all ski areas. 2 hours from Estes Park and allows a great drive to Black hawk Canyon. Stores are close by. City Market accepts Krogers card to reduce the price of most items. Parking is for one car only. Staff very helpful. Out Tv went out and they got us a new 27" in a matter of hours. !-10 rating I would give a 7 overall.

The best thing about Orofino is the location - minutes from Copper Mountain, Breckinridge, and Keystone and an easy ride from Vail. The rooms are very large and held our family of four without breaking stride. Kitchen has everything you need, we used the fireplace all the time, and the outdoor hot tub was a blast after a day on the slopes. While Orofino is off the beaten track, it's a short ride into a town full of restaurants, groceries, ski rental shops, movies, and even an outlet mall. Great place to spend a week.

Orofino is conveniently located in Dillon within 20 minutes of Breckenridge, Keystone, Copper Mountain and Arapahoe Basin. This roomy condo features a wood burning stove, fully equipped kitchen and access to 3 outdoor spas. Free shuttle. Washer/Dryer.
